Small side table in antique pitch pine, 42cm diameter, 40cm high, with hairpin legs and finished in tung oil.
The shape of this is a Reuleaux triangle, which is a triangle with constant diameter. The Reuleaux triangle occurs surprisingly commonly but probably most appropriately in this case because it’s found in the shape of windows and ornaments of some Gothic and Neo-Gothic buildings. The pitch pine used here was reclaimed from church pews, so the shape retains the ecclesiastical theme.
The top is a hefty 40mm thick but chamfered to achieve a lighter visual impact.
