Latest Project - Hall Table in Elm
The latest project is a hall table in elm, finished with danish oil.
The top is a single board of English elm, 125cm wide and 42cm deep with a slight chamfer on the underside to visually lighten the appearance. It's 80cm high, with two drawers with book-matched fronts so that the grain patterns match beautifully. The drawer sides are maple, which provides a hardwearing running surface and contrasts nicely with the darker elm fronts to highlight the dovetail joints.
The sides of the table feature floating panels and two vertical rails which were inspired by a Japanese altar table spotted in Meiji Jingu, Tokyo.
